In the latest updates of the Behbal Kalan Firing case, Insaaf Morcha has tied up with the other Sikh organizations demanding prompt action. The case is pending since 2015. A logical conclusion is awaited against the police actions taken at that moment.
Recalling the facts, in 2015 police firing instances, nine charge sheets were submitted, including five for the Behbal Kalan incident and four for the Kotkapura episode. In the Kotkapura case, seven people—six police officers and a former Shiromani Akali Dal MLA named Mantar Singh Brar—are charged. In the Behbal Kalan case, eight people—six police officers—are charged. In all cases, the defendants include the former DGP Saini, former IGP Paramraj Singh Umranangal, and former SSP for Moga, Charanjit Singh Sharma.
Now the Sikh leaders plan to assemble at the dharna on September 1. Son of Bhagwan Krishan Singh- Sukhraj Singh pledged the Sikhs to assemble at dharna to support the protest. The morcha leaders said that the AAP party has failed to deliver justice in the police firing and sacrilege cases as promised during Feb assembly elections. Earlier the Akali Dal (the party in power then) was accused of their involvement in the cases.
However, Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan, one of the attendees of the meeting claimed that the state government is trying hard to unfurl the truth to solve the cases earnestly.
The state government has, however, failed to announce the date by which the probe would be completed.
The Challenge Ahead
Now, the challenge lies in exploring the facts as several people are involved in the firing case. It is a fact that the people of Behbal Kalan have lost patience and the final conclusion is eagerly awaited.
