Partap Singh should also have a narco test. It may be mentioned that the Government of Punjab has been investigating the case since 2015. Punjab Govt Constitutes New SIT to Probe Kotkapura Firing Case
Six years ago, during the rule of the Akali Dal, several incidents of Desecration of Guru Granth Sahib took place one after another in Punjab. In October 2015, people staged a dharna at Kotkapura Chowk. Punjab police, who had gone to disperse the protesters, clashed at the protest site. Police then had to open fire in the air. In the 2017 Assembly elections, the issue became political when Amarinder Singh claimed to form a government and set up a commission in these cases and threw the Badals in jail.
The SIT was constituted by Captain Government on the basis of ranjit singh commission report in this case. The SIT arrested several police personnel and filed charge sheets against them, including the former DGP Saini. Later Punjab and Haryana High Court dismissed the charge sheet of SIT.
The High Court directed the government to re-investigate senior IPS officers by the new SIT without Kunwar Vijay Pratap. A new SIT headed by ADGP LK Yadav has now been constituted which has questioned former CM Parkash Singh Badal, former Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal and former DGP Sumedh Saini in the matter.
IGP PS Umranangal Consents to Polygraph Test
Ex IPS Kunwar Vijay Pratap Joins AAP after the High Court dismissed the probe in kotkapura police firing case. Preparations are now underway to contest the Assembly elections from Amritsar. Former state DGP Sumedh Singh Saini and former Moga SSP Charanjit Singh Sharma, accused in the Kotkarpura Golikand incident, flatly refused to undergo a narco test.
While IG Parmraj Singh Umranangal agreed to conduct the test as per the guidelines of the Supreme Court. The three former police officers had filed their reply in the ACJM court through their respective lawyers.
The SIT now wants to conduct a narco test on the Ex officials. Therefore, PS Umranangal is ready for the narco test, but also wants the narcotics test of the first SIT IG Vijay Pratap. He was produced in court for a narco test. “I have always supported the SIT,” he told the media for the first time. No matter how many times I want to get the narco test, but also Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh’s test. I have no role in the behbal kalan firing case. My presence in Kotkapura was also under the system.
Ex DGP Saini & Moga SSP Refuse to Undergo Narco Tests
The Kotkapura case is still pending due to lack of evidences . For further clarity, the SIT has requested permission to conduct Narco Test on former DGP. Sumedh Saini, former SSP Charanjit Sharma, IG Parmaraj Singh & others.
On the other hand, former DGP Sumedh Saini and former SSP Charanjit Sharma have categorically refused to undergo narco test, while Parmaraj Umranangal has agreed to undergo narco test. Therefore, the next hearing of the SIT’s narco test in this regard will be held soon.
Kotkapura Former SHO Pandher said the new SIT summoned him for questioning and cooperated. “I was convicted by the previous SIT in the Kotkapura case because at the time I was the SHO of the Kotkapura Town Police Station. However, I have never been to Behbal Kalan.
A large number of senior police officials were present in Kotkapura before and after the clash with the demonstrators on the morning of October 14, 2015. As SHO, I was responsible for taking care of everything and transporting the wounded to the city ‘hospital. I was in Kotkapura with Panthpreet Singh, Ranjit Singh Hadrian and many other preachers, so how can I be there just a few hours after the Kotkapura incident. While in Bathinda Prison, I wrote a justice request to the DGP through the prison authorities on July 13, 2020, but was appointed on July 14, 2020 in the Behbal Kalan case.
IG Umranangal gives written consent for narco test in Kotkapura case. He is also following court instructions, but still faces allegations. We all hope that after this narco test the culprits will be behind bars. People must support Punjab police IG Paramraj Singh Umranangal as the new SIT team is studying the case very well.
