Leaders from various parties have always used the communal sentiments of the people to win in the political race. Despite of polling agenda leaders were highlighting Sacrilege cases in their political speeches. It seems like Sacrilege cases were back in Punjab poll debate during feb 2022 Assembly elections. However, it is said that Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan incidents were being “intermingled” and there were attempts to “create confusion”.
Sacrilege Incidents Have Misled Punjab on Edge

Sacrilege Case and the Cold War Between Punjab Police

As per the investigation’s help, a committee, SIT, was formed led by Ex IG Kuwar Vijay Pratap Singh. However, after the resignation of Kuwar Vijay Pratap, there were daggers in the previous SIT team which shows incompetence of SIT in Behbal Kalan & Kotkapura firing cases.
A new SIT appointed the Additional Director General of Police L K Yadav to probe the Kotkapura police firing incident following the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. SIT is taking proactive actions and is ready to take aggressive steps against the people who are misleading the facts. The committee is investigating the local people to reveal the truth. The various aspects of the case are studied and the facts are collected.
Justice Must Prevail and Truth Must Be Revealed
The top political leaders creating a kiosk about the cases is nothing but a shameful act that should be discouraged by all political parties. In the betterment of Punjab, we all must stand by the truth and respect the court’s proceedings without letting it become a political agenda.
IG Paramraj Singh Umranangal was Ludhiana police commissioner at the time. Since he had witnessed the case, he is continuously demanding to solve the case by recognizing the real culprits. They are still like the black sheep hiding the truth and keeping themselves behind the curtains.
Soon the final report of SIT will be submitted and we can expect the final verdict of the case. In the meanwhile, IG Paramraj Umranangal who was arrested on February 18, 2019, in the case, has always supported the investigations. He has agreed to undergo a lie detector test whereas other accused have refused.
Cases in Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan incidents are presently in Faridkot courts. We can soon expect the final verdict. Till then, we as responsible citizens must not get affected by the political movements and baseless statements given by leaders who like to gain political benefits.
