Mela Umranangal Da
To reign supreme village culture Mela Umranangal Da is organized every year in the fond memory of former Revenue Minister, Late Jathedar Jiwan Singh Umranangal, his son Shaheed Sukhdev Singh Umranangal, and Sampooran Kaur, who lost their lives in safeguarding the peace of Punjab during the 1984 riots.
The mela is a gathering of people where everyone celebrate independence and joy promoting the richness of the cultural heritage and games of Punjab.
Much-Awaited Event of the Year in Punjab
Former IG Paramraj Singh Umranangal organizes the occasion to honor the kin of civil and police martyrs every year There are several activities like music performances by Punjabi and Bollywood singers, sports, stunts, and other celebrations.
The mela is held at Umra Nangal Village, near Beas district in Amritsar. Some of the activities that are organized are:
- Entertainment – Singers, dhol, bhangra
- Medical camps
- Sports – Kabaddi (Punjab Style)
It is a much-awaited event of the year for the local people and all Punjabis. Some of the artists that have performed in mela are: Sidhu moose wala, Amrit Maan, Gippy Grewal, Manikart Aulakh, Ranjit Bawa, Kanwar Grewal, Amy Virk, Mandy Takhar, Binnu Dhillon
