The 7th anniversary of Krishan Bhagwan Singh and Gurjit Singh, who were killed in alleged police firing, was observed on October 14. On the occasion, Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan had sought 45 days to provide justice. The saddest part is that the Punjab police force and officers like Former IG Paramraj Singh Umranangal, former senior superintendent of police Charanjit Singh Sharma and former director general of police Sumedh Singh Saini are accused in the case.
Now, the limit of 45 days is over on 1st December. Sandhwan has announced that he will resign from the post and will join the morcha in case he fails to ensure the final verdict from the court. On Thursday, the morcha decided to assemble on December 15 to mark the anniversary of starting its protest for justice. (Source – timesofindia.indiatimes)

As the Insaaf Morcha is actively demanding justice in the firing cases, they have now demanded the resignation of the Vidhan Sabha Speaker.
What are the Previous Promises?
After the brutal killing of two Sikh protesters Krishan Bhagwan Singh and Gurjeet Singh in police firing at Behbal kalan on October 14, 2015, the police officers including Former IG PS Umranangal, Sumedh Singh Saini were accused . Even the political leaders- Sukhdev Singh Badal (CM at that Time) was questioned for the same.
An SIT team was formed but nothing has been proved till date. The case had undergone many twists and turns. Even, SIT has requested permission to conduct Narco Test on former DGP. Sumedh Saini, former SSP Charanjit Sharma, IG Paramraj Umranangal & others. The sacrilege cases became a matter of discussion in the Assembly Election of Punjab.
Families of the victims were promised justice by the Aam Aadmi Party, but the promises were not kept. In the past, many AAP party leaders have been conducting various meetings with the Insaaf Morcha.
The victim’s families, however, feel that the Punjab Government is trying to mold the issue from a political or holistic perspective, instead of nailing the victims. Also, the victims are shielded and the truth is yet to be discovered.
For now, the Insaaf morcha is demanding a special Vidhan Sabha session where the speaker should address the status of the sacrilege and police firing incidents.
Expected Verdict
As of now, SIT has not commented on the whole matter, stating that the investigation is not yet complete. The Insaff Morcha is getting furious. It is high time that SIT makes a final decision and the victims’ families can breathe a sigh of relief! Therefore, Police officers like IGP Paramraj Singh Umranangal is always ready for the narco test.
